3 hours in Merida | Merida, Spain

While driving home from Caceres on Sunday, Fernando and I decided to stop to check out the city of Merida. Neither of us had been before, but we had heard many good things about the small city with amazing Roman ruins. After driving 2 minutes into the city we saw the first impressive Roman structure - the aqua duct. Although partially destroyed, it was still incredible. It stood in the centre of a park, so we took the opportunity to enjoy a walk around and take photos. After leaving the park we continued to a more touristic area. There was a Roman temple, amphitheatre, bridge, museum, alcazaba, various ruins and much more. Having only a few hours there, we could only fit in a visit to the temple, amphitheatre and alcazaba. Walking from one place to the other we were amazed at the amount of monuments and structures perfectly intact, right in the middle of the city. There was a huge temple sitting amongst cafes, a convenience store and a hair salon! If you're visiting Spain, I really recommend this city. It easily made it's way into my top 5 favourite Spanish cities!

I wore another comfortable look in Merida (can you tell I like to be comfortable while travelling?). I loved the long, flowing maxi skirt and a crochet top I wore. The sandals were comfortable, but I should have worn something more covered since the ruins were so sandy. Oops!

Cuando Fernando y yo estabamos conduciendo a Jerez desde Caceres, paramos a visitar la ciudad de Merida. Ni Fernando ni yo nunca habiamos estado, pero escuchamos muchas cosas buenas de la ciudad con asombrosas ruinas Romanas. Despues de conducir 2 minutos en la ciudad, vimos la primera estructura impresionante - el acueducto. Aunque parcialmente destruido, es todavia increible. Se situa en el medio de un gran parque, entonces tomamos la oportunidad para pasear y tomar fotos. Despues del parque, continuamos paseando por una area mas turistica. Habia un templo Romano, anfiteatro , museos, una alcazaba, vario ruinas y mucho mas. Solo teniendo algunas horas para visitar la cuidad, pudimos visitar el teatro, anfiteatro y alcazaba. Cuando paseabamos desde un sitio a otro, nos sorprendio cuantos monumentos y estructuras habia perfectamente intactos en el medio de la ciudad. Habia un templo enorme en frente de cafes, tiendas y peluquerias. Si estas visitando Espana, recomiendo esta ciudad. Facilmente, es una de mis ciudades favoritas de Espana.

Llevaba otro outfit muy comodo en Merida (podeis ver que me gusta estar comoda cuando viajo?). Me encantan la falda maxi y camiseta croche. Los sandalias eran comodas tambien, pero deberia haber llevado algo mas cerrado porque habia mucha arena en las ruinas. Ups!
